II QUICK LANDSCAPE PAINTING CONTEST. VILLABAÑEZ (VALLADOLID) 19th JUNE 2010

Bodegas y Viñedos Mento, with the cooperation of Villa del Libro, The Wine Museum, Fernanded Bakery and the Villábañez Council, organized the II quick landscape painting contest, which took place on 19^th June  in Villabañez from 09.00 to  13.30.

We enjoyed a  splendid morning and though we wished for a wider attendance, we should say that those who participated  were the best in their own specialty.  However, we missed the participation of the people from Villabañez and surrounding  villages like Tudela de Duero, Villabaquerin  and Renedo, etc.;  places within a very short distance of Villabañez and them all with an important artistic tradition. We are considering to carry out a study in order to find out the reason why this low participation in a contest of artists for artists. It is not only a matter of wining, but also exchanging views, looking at the different techniques  used, and being within the special atmosphere  created by the artists weather they are famous or not.   

We believe that it is worth to create a contest like this one if only to enjoy the work of those who are  able to pick up a brush, a pencil  and/or watercolors in order to express the most inner part of themselves.

Next year, due to the interest raised among the participants, we are also considering a cash prize  together with  Mento wine.

We thank you all: the participating artists, the judges’ panel and also Villa del Libro who provided the juvenile and infant prizes.
